Check Out Dive Weekends

The Open Water dives are the final step to earning your Open Water Certification. You will complete 4 open water dives over the course of a two-day weekend. These dives are not included in the cost of your Open Water course and cost $35 for the weekend.  Your dive fees and air fills are also not included and have to be paid at the divesite.  Please pick & book your checkdive weekend date for anytime after your your final pool session.  Book your checkout dive weekend as soon as you can as they can fill up fast.  

You will need to stop by Columbus Scuba anytime the week prior to your Open Water Dives to pick up the rental equipment you will need, BCD, wetsuit, regulator, tank, weights, etc.

Gilboa Quarry is located at 3763 Old State Rte 224, Ottawa, OH 45875; about 2 hours north of Columbus. Please arrive at Gilboa Quarry no later than 8:30am on Saturday to check in with their office and attend the Columbus Scuba dive briefing at 9:00.

Below is a general overview of a Check Out Dive Weekend schedule. Please bring water to drink for the entire weekend. We will provide food for the majority of Saturday.

 

Saturday:

  • Arrive to the quarry at 8:30am and check in with the quarry office.
  • 9:00am dive briefing with Columbus Scuba. We will split you into smaller course groups for the weekend. Once split into groups, your instructor will make your weekend dive schedule. You'll do a dive before lunch. 
  • Around noon we will serve you lunch!
  • More diving
  • Around 6pm we do a potluck style dinner. We will provide the main course, we ask that you bring a side dish. 

Sunday:

  • Finish up your dives for your certification! Sometimes we have leftovers from the previous day out to snack on, but plan on bringing some food for this day.

 

Gilboa Quarry is a seperate business from Columbus Scuba and they charge for entry, camping and air fills. You can find the current Gilboa pricing here Gilboa current pricing

 

Cancellation: If you need to rebook your certification weekend for another weekend, please email us.  Cancellations via email 10+ days out will be rebooked at no charge (cancellations less than 10 days will incur a $35 rebooking fee). Columbus Scuba reserves the right to pay the instructor.
